Arthouse genre sales company Yellow Veil Pictures has acquired worldwide sales rights for indie-horror vet Larry Fessenden’s Depraved, which celebrates its world premiere as the opening night film at IFC Center’s What The Fest!? this week.

Stitching together the pieces of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, Depraved is a contemporary reimagining of the seminal tale centered on a field surgeon (David Call, The Sinner) who creates a man out of body parts in a makeshift lab in Brooklyn. Successful in his attempts but consumed with remorse over what he’s done, Henry tries to protect his creation, Adam (Alex Breaux, Bushwick), from the world. However, as Adam’s development continues, it is no longer clear who needs protecting. Depraved also stars Joshua Leonard (The Blair Witch Project), Ana Kayne (Another Earth), Chloe Levine (The Transfiguration, The Ranger), and Addison Timlin (The Town That Dreaded Sundown).

Yellow Veil Pictures Co-owner Joe Yanick said “Depraved represents everything that is great about Fessenden’s work. It’s an honor to be able to work with a director I’ve so greatly admired”

Larry Fessenden has long been a fixture of the indiependent horror scene and is the founder of the New York-based production shingle Glass Eye Pix. Fessenden has most notably served as producer for House of the Devil, Stake Land, and Wendy and Lucy.

“It is very exciting to be working with Yellow Veil on this project. I am enthused to partner with a young company that is finding its groove in this fickle business, and I look forward to seeing what they can do to get my movie out into capable hands," says Larry Fessenden.

Depraved is produced by Glass Eye Pix and Joe Swanberg’s Forager Film Company.
